Here are some photos to show the surprise I encountered today, inspecting my car that finally arrived near midnight last night. The tank? I am thinking that I will maybe try to fabricate a new one out of aluminum instead -- I will learn to weld at a nearby college that turns out lots of welders. Do these headers look original, or aftermarket? There are no identifying markings on them that I can tell. After inspecting the car and taking inventory of the parts in all of the boxes it came with, I decided to try cleaning up the Cosmic wheels. I think a few applications of wheel cleaner, using the 3M abrasive pads, and lots of time per wheel, that I should be happy to keep the wheels.
I found out that the previous owner hung a lot of parts, and there are about half of the bolts used, to arrange the car so it could be loaded onto the flatbed it was on last night. I will decide on some arrangement to store the body above the frame while I go through everything and paint the bodyshell. I have been trying to determine the weight of the bodyshell so I can decide how elaborate a rotisierrie should be. Does anybody know?
I was initially inspecting the bodyshell and amazed to see obvious signs of panels being bonded together, rather than one big mold. And, some of the joints were pretty crude. I think that the more time I spend going over some of these details, the more rigid the bodyshell will be.
